Sadio Mane Speaks Publicly About Punching Leroy Sane And Says He Wants To Stay At Bayern Munich Despite Rumors He Has Been Put Up For Sale
Sadio Mane has for the first time spoken publicly about his violent clash with Bayern Munich teammate Leroy Sane last season.
Mane, 31, was fined around £250,000 in April after punching Sane in the face during a locker room argument after Bayern's 3-0 defeat at Manchester City in the Champions League.
The Senegalese striker only started in three of Bayern's final eight games of the season following the incident.
Sane had been left with a bloody lip but he reportedly forgave Mane and even urged Bayern not to sack him.
Nevertheless, Mane is rumored to be on a list of players that manager Thomas Tuchel is willing to sell this summer.
But Mane would like to stay and is determined for his second season at Bayern to be better than his first.
Mane, discussing his clash with Sane, told Senegalese television station 2sTV this week: "These kind of things can happen. It happened. We were able to solve this small problem."
He added: "Sometimes it's good to solve problems, but maybe not in this way. It's behind us now. We'll try to fight together to help the club achieve its goals next season.
"I'm on vacation with the family. It was a very complicated season, it happens. It wasn't a surprise, I expected things to be a bit complicated. It's normal.
"I love challenges, and Bayern is a big challenge. It's up to me to do everything to meet this challenge."
Mane joined Bayern in June 2022 after scoring 120 goals in six seasons for Liverpool.
He netted 12 times in 38 matches during his first season with Bayern.
