Sheffield United Promoted To Premier League As Championship Runners-Up
Sheffield United have earned promotion back to the Premier League after sealing second place in the EFL Championship.
The Blades beat West Bromwich Albion 2-0 at Bramall Lane on Wednesday night to move onto 85 points from 43 games.
That makes it impossible for third-placed Luton Town to climb above them before the end of the regular season.
Sander Berge and Anel Ahmedhodzic both scored in the second half to help United win their 26th league game of the season.
United are the second team to be promoted to the EPL this season, after champions Burnley.
Next season will be Sheffield United's sixth campaign in the Premier League.
The Yorkshire outfit were one of 22 founder members of the EPL in 1992 but they were relegated in 1994.
After a decade in the second tier of English soccer, United returned to the Premier League in 2006, only to go straight back down.
They came back to the EPL in 2019 and went on to record an impressive finish of ninth in the 2019/20 season, before dropping to 20th a year later.
