Tottenham forward Son Heung-min is adamant that he will represent South Korea at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Son missed Tottenham's 2-1 loss to Liverpool on Sunday after suffering an injury in his side's win over Marseille five days earlier.

The 30-year-old had to undergo surgery to stabilize a fracture around his left eye.

It had been unclear whether or not Son would recover in time to captain his country in Qatar.

But Son reassured supporters in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

Son told his 8.1 million followers: "Hi everyone. I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you all for the messages of support I have received over the last week.

"I have read so many of them and truly, truly appreciate you all. In a tough time I received a lot of strength from you!

"Playing for your country at the World Cup is the dream of so many children growing up, just as it was one of mine too.

"I won't miss this for the world. I can't wait to represent our beautiful country, see you soon."

South Korea begin their World Cup H campaign against Uruguay on November 24.

Portugal and Ghana are also in Group H.

If Son makes good on his promise and features at Qatar 2022 it will be his third World Cup.

He scored one goal at Brazil 2014 and two at Russia 2018.

South Korea have not progressed beyond the group phase since 2010.
