Tottenham Captain Out For Six To Eight Weeks With Knee Ligament Injury
Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris is set to miss the next six to eight weeks due to an injury.
The 36-year-old goalkeeper sustained ligament damage during Sunday's 1-0 win over Manchester City.
Former England keeper Fraser Forster, 34, will now be called upon to stand in for Lloris.
Forster, who joined Spurs from Southampton on a free transfer in June, has only made four appearances so far this season.
But he is now expected to start in Tottenham's next nine fixtures at least, including both legs of their Champions League last 16 clash with AC Milan.
Brandon Austin, 24, and Alfie Whiteman, also 24, are Tottenham's other goalkeeping options but neither has ever started a senior game for the club.
Lloris recently announced his retirement from international soccer, ending his France career after the 2022 FIFA World Cup final.
He holds France's all-time appearance record after earning 145 caps.
Forster has been capped six times by England but has not played at international level since 2019.
