Struggling Tottenham And Brazil Forward Richarlison To "Seek Psychological Help"
Tottenham and Brazil forward Richarlison has said that he will "seek psychological help" upon his return to England following the international break.
The 26-year-old has only scored four goals in 40 matches for Spurs since arriving from Everton for an initial transfer fee of £50 million in July 2022.
Despite his poor club form, Richarlison started Brazil's last two games earlier this month but was subbed off after missing multiple chances in wins over Bolivia and Peru.
After coming off in the 71st minute of Brazil's 5-1 win over Bolivia in Belem, Richarlison was pictured crying on the bench.
Speaking to Brazilian newspaper O Globo this week, Richarlison claimed that his tearful reaction was down to "getting the things that were happening off the pitch out of my system".
He said: "That moment of sadness wasn't about having played badly.
"In my opinion, I didn't play a bad match in Belem.
"It was more about getting the things that were happening off the pitch out of my system, which had gotten out of control not because of anything I'd done but because of people close to me."
According to O Globo, Richarlison recently parted ways with long-term agent Renato Velasco.
Richarlison added: "Now things are a bit more stable at home. People who only had their eye on my money are no longer close to me.
"Things are going to flow now and I'm certain that I will have a good run at Tottenham and will make things happen again.
"I'm going to return to England and seek psychological help, from a psychologist, to strengthen my mind. That's what it is about, to come back stronger."
Tottenham will return to Premier League action with a home game against Sheffield United on Saturday, while Brazil's next fixtures will be against Venezuela and Uruguay in October.
"I think I will be part of the next [Brazil] lineup," said Richarlison. "That's what I'm working towards.
"It's about doing a good run at Tottenham. I'm going to sit down and talk to them. I need a good run, to get into the flow of play and settle in."
Richarlison had previously scored 53 goals in 152 appearances for Everton.
He has netted 20 times in 45 senior international matches for Brazil.
