Tottenham Hotspur signed Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon on transfer deadline day.

Porro joined Spurs on an initial loan but the deal includes an obligation to buy the 23-year-old for around £40 million in the summer.

He will wear the no.23 jersey.

Spain international Porro had been at Sporting since August 2020.

He joined Sporting from Manchester City after failing to make a single senior appearance for the English club.

Porro was a first-team regular for Sporting and had provided seven assists in 22 games this season.

He is expected to become Tottenham's first choice at right-back.

Spurs had used Matt Doherty and Emerson Royal in that position this season.

But Doherty left Tottenham on deadline day to join Atletico Madrid.

Doherty joined Atletico after Tottenham announced that his contract had been terminated by mutual agreement.

Ireland international Doherty was not the only right-back to leave Spurs on deadline day.

Djed Spence joined Rennes on loan until the end of the season.

Spence arrived at Tottenham from Middlesbrough in the summer but has yet to start a game under Antonio Conte.
