Manchester United will meet Bayern Munich in the group stage of the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League.

Both clubs were placed in Group A along with Danish champions Copenhagen and Turkish giants Galatasaray during Thursday's draw in Monaco.

United and Bayern have previously met 11 times in the Champions League.

Their last meeting in the group stage came back in 1998, before United went on to beat Bayern 2-1 in a dramatic final in 1999.

Newcastle United were handed a very difficult group on Thursday.

The Magpies - who were in Pot 4 having not competed in the Champions League group stage since 2002 - will face Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan in Group F.

Reacting to the draw on Twitter, fans quickly dubbed Group F as "the group of death".

"This is the deadliest group of death UEFA has ever produced," tweeted one fan.

Another wrote: "Group F is TERRIFYING".

Elsewhere, Arsenal will fancy their chances of progressing from Group B, which also includes Sevilla, PSV Eindhoven and Lens.

Manchester City will also be expected to progress, having been drawn in Group G with RB Leipzig, Red Star Belgrade and Young Boys.
