Aston Villa must beat Ajax to reach the quarter-finals of this season's UEFA Europa Conference League.

The draw for the round of 16 took place in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday afternoon.

Other ties drawn included Maccabi Haifa vs. Fiorentina and Dinamo Zagreb vs. PAOK.

The first legs will take place on March 7, with the second legs being held seven days later.

Villa will be at home in the second leg.

Villa and Ajax have only faced each other once previously. That match took place in October 2008 during the group stage of the UEFA Cup.

Thomas Vermaelen scored for Ajax in Birmingham, but goals from Martin Laursen and Gareth Barry helped Villa win 2-1.

Brad Friedel, James Milner, Luis Suarez, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Jan Vertonghen also played in that game.
