Rishi Sunak, the prime minister of the United Kingdom, was at St Mary's Stadium to watch his beloved Southampton on Saturday.

The 43-year-old, who was born in Southampton, was pictured wearing a grey hoodie as he sat in a padded seat in the executive area of the stadium.

Sunak has previously claimed that he is a "massive football fan" and has cited former Saints midfielder Matt Le Tissier as his favorite ever player.

When asked at an event in Exeter last year what job he would like to do if he was not in politics, Sunak responded: "I'm from Southampton and if I would get to be able to run Southampton [I would do that]."

As a "massive football fan", Sunak will know all too well that it is a sport of highs and lows.

On Saturday it was the latter as Southampton were relegated from the Premier League.
