USA To Make Emma Hayes Highest-Paid Coach In Women's Soccer
Emma Hayes is expected to become the highest-paid coach in women's soccer when she leaves Chelsea to take charge of the USWNT next year.
Chelsea announced in a statement on Saturday that Hayes "will depart the club at the end of the season to pursue a new opportunity outside of the WSL and club football."
The English club season will finish in May 2024.
Hayes has been manager of Chelsea since August 2012 and she has led her team to 15 trophies, including six Women's Super League titles.
In 2021, she won The Best FIFA Football Coach award.
According to The Athletic, Hayes has not yet signed a contract with US Soccer but talks are at an advanced stage and she is set to be given a salary that will top that of any coach in the history of the women's game.
The 47-year-old's first match as USWNT boss will likely come at the end of May.
It is understood that her new team will play two games in the international period that commences on May 27.
Another two games will then take place between July 8 and 16, ahead of the women's soccer tournament at the Paris Olympics, which will begin on July 25.
