Netherlands forward Lineth Beerensteyn was delighted to see the United States exit this summer's FIFA Women's World Cup.

The USWNT's bid to win a third consecutive Women's World Cup crown ended on Sunday following a penalty-shootout defeat against Sweden.

Reacting to that result, Beerensteyn told reporters this week: "The first moment when I heard that they were out, I was just thinking, 'Yes! Bye!'".

Beerensteyn added: "From the start of this tournament they already had a really big mouth.

"They were talking already about the final and stuff.

"I was just thinking, 'you first have to show it on the pitch before you are talking'."

Before the tournament, multiple USA players - including Alex Morgan, Megan Rapinoe and Crystal Dunn - teamed up with FOX Soccer to shoot a commercial titled "USA vs The World".

The mini-film attempted to comically highlight how fearful other nations were of the USWNT.

It featured Australian airline workers proposing the cancelation of flights from the US, as well as Japanese fans plotting to travel back in time to encourage Rapinoe to play tennis instead of soccer.

There were many other amusing ideas suggested, but not superior Swedish penalties.

Beerensteyn has scored 26 goals in 93 senior international games for the Netherlands, including one in a 2-0 win over South Africa in the round of 16 last weekend.
