Wayne Rooney's Old Super Bowl Tweets Go Viral After He Joins Tom Brady At Birmingham City
Several of Wayne Rooney's old tweets went viral this week more than 11 years after they were posted.
Those tweets were from February 2012 when Rooney made it clear to his social media followers that he was not a fan of American football as a sport.
Rooney was appointed as the manager of Birmingham City on Wednesday.
That job will see the former England captain work with NFL legend Tom Brady, who became chairman of a new advisory board at the EFL Championship club earlier this year.
Rooney spoke on Thursday about his excitement at collaborating with Brady.
"I have spoken to Tom," Rooney told reporters at a press conference. "He is very ambitious to move this club forward.
"It's great to have him here. It's important for the players to see Tom Brady have an involvement. It's very clear that Tom is fully involved in the club."
Shortly after Rooney made these comments, his former tweets about the NFL began to spread like wildfire across social media.
Those tweets had been posted while Rooney was watching Super Bowl XLVI on television.
Rooney's first tweet read: "Trying to watch super bowl final. How do they call this football. Like watching paint dry. Looking forward to adverts and music."
Moments after that tweet in 2012, Rooney added: "Seen more of guys in studio than the players at super bowl. Zzzzzzzz hurry up music."
Seven-time champion Brady was on the losing side in 2012 as his New England Patriots team lost 21-17 to the New York Giants.
Rooney's interest in the NFL appears to have increased over the years.
He was pictured at Super Bowl LVII earlier this year wearing a Kansas City Chiefs jersey.
