Wrexham AFC welcomed a special guest to the Racecourse Ground on Saturday as Will Ferrell was in town.

Ferrell, who owns a stake in MLS outfit Los Angeles FC, is a big soccer fan.

He attended last season's UEFA Champions League final and has previously been photographed at multiple Chelsea matches.

But the 55-year-old had never been to a game in the National League, which is the fifth tier of soccer in England.

Ferrell's first taste of National League soccer was Wrexham's home game against Wealdstone.

Wrexham won 3-1 to stay top of the table and on course for promotion to EFL League Two.

Before the match, Ferrell was spotted drinking beer with fans in a local pub.

He later appeared in multiple posts on Wrexham's social media channels.

Saturday's game came two years and two days after Wrexham officially became the most showbiz club in North Wales.

It was on February 9, 2021 that Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney completed their purchase of the club, although the takeover had been agreed in November 2020.

Ferrell and Reynolds are close friends and attended last season's FA Trophy final at Wembley together when Wrexham lost 1-0 to Bromley.
