Keira Walsh is still the most expensive player in the history of women's soccer after Manchester United rejected two huge offers from Arsenal for Alessia Russo.

England midfielder Walsh joined Barcelona from Manchester City for a fee in the region of £400,000 in September.

But Arsenal made two offers in excess of that figure this week for Russo, who scored four times at Euro 2022, including the official Goal of the Tournament winner.

Both bids were dismissed as United refused to sell, despite Russo having less than a year left to run on her current contract.

Russo rejected United's offer of a new contract in June.
