Chelsea Considering January Move For Arsenal Player After Injury Blow

Chelsea are reportedly considering making a move for Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

Ramsdale, 25, lost his status as Arsenal's no.1 stopper earlier this season following the arrival of David Raya from Brentford on August 15.

Raya has started 11 of Arsenal's last 12 Premier League matches - after Ramsdale had played in all 38 games last season.

It is widely believed that Ramsdale will leave the Emirates Stadium in 2024, but Arsenal may prefer to keep him until the summer, rather than letting him go in January.

A mid-season exit may be preferred by the player himself though, with regular game-time potentially needed to impress England manager Gareth Southgate ahead of Euro 2024.

According to talkSPORT, Chelsea could step up their interest in Ramsdale during the January transfer window after Blues keeper Robert Sanchez recently suffered a knee injury.

But in the short term, 24-year-old Serbia international Dorde Petrovic is expected to get a run in the Chelsea starting XI between now and January.

If Ramsdale moves to Stamford Bridge then he will become only the third senior player to transfer directly from Arsenal to Chelsea during the Premier League era - after Ashley Cole and Olivier Giroud.

Meanwhile, seven players have moved from Chelsea to Arsenal since the EPL began in 1992 - Jorginho, Willian, David Luiz, Petr Cech, Yossi Benayoun, Lassana Diarra and William Gallas.
