Cristiano Ronaldo Won't Stay In Saudi Arabia Much Longer And May Return To Real Madrid In Non-Playing Role, Claims Report In Spain
Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly unlikely to honor his full contract with Al Nassr because he is not happy in Saudi Arabia.
According to Spanish newspaper El Nacional, cultural differences and a language barrier have made it hard for Ronaldo and his family to acclimatize since he joined Al Nassr on a two-and-a-half deal in January, when he become the highest-paid footballer ever.
Al Nassr was never Ronaldo's first choice. It was widely known that he had initially wanted to leave former club Manchester United for a team competing in Europe's Champions League.
He came close to signing for Atletico Madrid before fans of the club protested against the proposed move due to his history with rivals Real Madrid. Ronaldo also offered himself to Real last year but coach Carlo Ancelotti was not keen.
Ronaldo spent nine of the best years of his career at Real, scoring 450 goals and winning 15 trophies between 2009 and 2018.
It was in Madrid that Ronaldo met his partner, Georgina Rodriguez, and El Nacional suggests that the couple are pining for a return to the Spanish capital.
The report adds that Ronaldo would be welcomed back at Real in a non-playing role, with club president Florentino Perez having promised the 38-year-old an ambassadorial position at the very least.
Ronaldo will not leave Al Nassr before the end of the season.
Al Nassr have five Saudi Pro League games remaining and will likely have to win all of them if they are to stand any chance of pipping Al-Ittihad to the title.
Ronaldo has scored 12 goals in 12 Saudi Pro League game so far.
