Declan Rice is set to be officially confirmed as an Arsenal player later this week following a major breakthrough.

Arsenal and West Ham United had been locked in negotiations over a transfer fee and payment plan for the 24-year-old England midfielder.

But an agreement has finally been reached, according to the Daily Mail.

Arsenal will pay West Ham a guaranteed sum of £100 million plus a potential further £5m in performance-related add-ons.

Much of the haggling had been over how Arsenal would pay that initial £100m.

But the two clubs have reportedly now settled on a plan that will see Arsenal hand over three installments across 24 months.

It is understood that Rice and Arsenal have already agreed personal terms.

Rice is expected to sign a contract worth at least £250,000 per week.

He will now undergo a medical with the Gunners before being officially unveiled.

Rice's £100m transfer fee will see him become the most expensive English footballer ever.

He will also break Arsenal's transfer record.

Manchester City had briefly rivalled Arsenal in their pursuit of Rice this summer but pulled out of the running after West Ham rejected a bid worth £90m.

Rice has made 204 Premier League appearances for West Ham, scoring 10 goals and assisting another 10.

He also captained the Hammers to victory in the UEFA Europa Conference League final earlier this month in what will prove to be his last game for the club.

Rice has been capped 43 times by England, having previously represented the Republic of Ireland in three friendly matches.
