Erling Haaland on Real Madrid Rumors: "You Never Know"
Erling Haaland has refused to rule out the possibility of him leaving Manchester City for Real Madrid in the future.
Haaland is currently only midway through his second season in Manchester.
However, he has already won the Premier League, FA Cup and UEFA Champions League with City.
He is under contract at the Etihad Stadium until June 2027 but it has been rumored that he could leave before then to pursue a different challenge.
Haaland, 23, spoke at a City press conference on Tuesday on the eve of his team's UCL round of 16 second leg against FC Copenhagen.
During the press conference, a journalist said to Haaland: "With everything you have achieved in your career so far, particularly here last season and this season, there is in inevitable speculation about your long-term future.
"Real Madrid have been touted as a possible club for you, but do you feel that you have everything here at this club to stay here long term? Everything you need as a player?"
Haaland replied openly. He said: "I am really happy, especially with the people I am surrounded with. The manager, the directors, the board... they are a group of amazing people and I'm really happy, I have to say.
"If I say this now, it's probably going to be a massive headline... Tomorrow you never know what the future brings. But again, I'm happy. You can write this but you will also have to write everything I said right before. I'm happy."
Haaland is understood to be unlikely to move to Madrid this summer, with the Spanish giants expected to invest heavily in signing Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe looks set to join Madrid on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain but a huge salary and signing-on fee could see the Frenchman become the club's highest-paid player ever.
Haaland has played senior football for five different clubs to date.
Having started his career at Bryne, he went from Molde to Red Bull Salzburg to Borussia Dortmund, before joining City in the summer of 2022.
But Haaland also revealed during Tuesday's press conference that Copenhagen rejected the chance to sign him in 2016 following a trial.
"Sad for them, but maybe good for me because I went to Molde and it was a good choice," he said.
