Chelsea are reportedly considering a move for Harry Maguire.

Maguire was removed from his role as Manchester United captain by manager Erik ten Hag on Sunday.

Maguire, 30, reacted to the news by saying in a statement that he was "extremely disappointed", before adding: "I will continue to give my all every time I wear the shirt."

However, The Sun has claimed that Maguire was angry - rather than just disappointed - to be dethroned as United skipper and that he is now ready to quit the club.

Tottenham and West Ham had already been credited with interest in Maguire, who has two years remaining on his current contract.

But according to The Sun, Chelsea have now also emerged as a potential buyer for Maguire, with new manager Mauricio Pochettino keen to rebuild his team's defense.

Kalidou Koulibaly and Cesar Azpilicueta made 48 Premier League appearances between them for Chelsea last season but both players have departed Stamford Bridge this summer.

Maguire joined United from Leicester City in August 2019 for a transfer fee of £80 million.

Five months later he was appointed as club captain by former United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Maguire has made 175 first-team appearances in four seasons for the Red Devils.
