Powerless PSG Put Kylian Mbappe Up "For Sale" But Fear He Has Already Agreed Free Transfer To Real Madrid
Paris Saint-Germain have not included Kylian Mbappe in their squad for next week's pre-season trip to Japan.
Mbappe scored in a 2-0 win over Le Harve on Friday but he will not feature against Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr in Osaka on Tuesday.
The France captain has one year remaining on his current contract with PSG.
Mbappe has no intention of extending his stay with PSG beyond June 2024 but has said that he wishes to remain at the Parc des Princes until the end of the 2023/24 season.
However, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi gave Mbappe a public ultimatum earlier this month, effectively telling his star striker that he must sign a new deal or leave this summer.
Mbappe has since shown no indication that he wishes to change his mind and has consequently been placed on the transfer list, according to journalist Fabrizio Romano.
"Understand PSG consider Mbappe FOR SALE starting from today," Romano tweeted on Friday.
"Paris Saint-Germain feel Kylian Mbappe wants to leave for free in 2024 — he did not communicate anything yet despite Al Khelaifi's public statement.
"PSG decided to EXCLUDE Kylian from Japan tournee."
Losing Mbappe at the end of his contract and therefore receiving no transfer fee would be a very bad look for PSG. The player was reportedly paid a €150 million bonus by the French champions when he signed his current contract last summer.
But PSG could be powerless to prevent their nightmare scenario because Mbappe cannot be sold this summer without his consent.
Indeed, there is said to be a real fear among PSG bosses that Mbappe has already decided his future and that he fully intends to join Real Madrid on a free transfer in 12 months.
Romano wrote in another tweet on Friday: "Paris Saint-Germain are convinced that Kylian Mbappe has already agreed terms to join Real Madrid in 2024 on free deal.
"They wanted an answer on 'new deal or leave now' by July 15 — nothing at all. Mbappe, out of pre season tour and considered FOR SALE."
