Liverpool Willing To "Pay A Fortune" To Sign Kylian Mbappe From PSG

FIFA agent Marco Kirdemir has suggested that Liverpool could emerge as contenders to sign France captain Kylian Mbappe this summer.

Mbappe has just one year remaining on his current contract with Paris Saint-Germain and recently informed the club that he has no intention of extending that deal.

The 24-year-old will therefore be available on a free transfer next summer but PSG are keen to sell him before then to avoid losing one of the world's best players for no money.

Real Madrid are widely seen as the most likely club to sign Mbappe but Kirdemir claims that Liverpool are also very interested.

"Liverpool are competing with Real Madrid and want to pay a fortune for Mbappe," Kirdemir said this week.

Kirdemir was speaking to Marca. According to the Spanish newspaper, Liverpool would be prepared to spend around €300 million ($329m) on bringing Mbappe to Anfield.

Signing Mbappe would require Liverpool to smash their current transfer record.

Liverpool's most expensive signing to date was Darwin Nunez, who arrived from Benfica in a deal worth €100m last summer.

Nunez provided nine goals and three assists in 29 Premier League appearances last season.

Meanwhile, Mbappe won the Golden Boot in France's Ligue 1 by scoring 29 goals in 34 matches.
