Manchester United Finalize Marcel Sabitzer Loan Deal After Christian Eriksen Injury Blow
Manchester United signed Marcel Sabitzer on loan from Bayern Munich on the final day of the January transfer window.
Sabitzer flew to England on Tuesday before the deal was completed with very little time to spare.
United's loan deal for Sabitzer does not include an option to sign him permanently so he is expected to return to Bayern at the end of the season.
Speaking to ManUtd.com for the first time, Sabitzer said: "Sometimes in life you have to make quick and important decisions.
"From the moment I heard about this opportunity I knew it was right for me. I am a competitive player; I want to win and help the club achieve its aims this season.
"I feel that I am at my peak as a player, and that I can contribute a lot of experience and energy to the squad. I am excited to start with my new team-mates and manager and to show my qualities to Manchester United fans."
United's move for Sabitzer came after it was revealed that Christian Eriksen could be out until the final month of the Premier League season with an ankle injury.
A United statement earlier on Tuesday had read: "While investigations are continuing, initial assessments indicate that Eriksen is likely to be out until late April or early May.
"Eriksen's absence will be a big disappointment to manager Erik ten Hag and fans given the consistency of his performances throughout the season so far.
"However, there is hope that Christian can return in time to play a role in the final stages of the season."
Eriksen has featured in 31 matches for United this season, while Sabitzer has played in 24 games for Bayern.
United were reportedly offered deals to sign former Real Madrid midfielder Isco and Atletico's Saul Niguez after news of Eriksen's injury broke.
But United did not pursue either because Sabitzer was the man they wanted.
