Could Tottenham's Interest In Mathys Tel Help Bayern Munich Sign Harry Kane?
Bayern Munich could hold a significant bargaining chip in their quest to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The German giants have identified Kane - who celebrated his 30th birthday on Friday - as their top transfer target.
Spurs do not want to sell Kane, even though keeping him this summer could mean that they lose him on a free transfer when his current contract expires at the end of the 2023/24 season.
But Bayern bosses are set to hold negotiations with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy on Monday.
A key talking point during that meeting could be the future of 18-year-old Bayern forward Mathys Tel.
French teenager Tel joined Bayern from Rennes in August 2022 for an initial transfer fee of €20 million.
He scored five goals in the Bundesliga last season, despite starting just one game - he also made 21 appearances as a substitute.
Tel has been Bayern's top scorer during their pre-season friendlies this summer. He netted five goals in a 27-0 win over FC Rottach-Egern and was also on the scoresheet during a 2-1 loss to Manchester City.
According to The Telegraph, Tottenham have made enquiries about Tel's availability.
Bayern may be reluctant to part with Tel, who has been compared to France captain Kylian Mbappe due to his speed and dribbling ability.
But Levy is known as one of soccer's best negotiators and could demand Tel in part-exchange for Kane.
Were Spurs to sell Kane and sign Tel this summer then Brazilian Richarlison would likely be Ange Postecoglou's first-choice no.9 next season.
Tel can also play as a no.9 but he is equally comfortable playing in a wide attacking position.
