Ukraine Star Mykhailo Mudryk Upset By €100m Asking Price That Could Block "Dream" Transfer
Mykhailo Mudryk fears that his dream of playing in one of Europe's top leagues could be "wounded" by Shakhtar Donetsk demanding a €100 million transfer fee.
The 21-year-old only made his senior debut for Ukraine in April but he has already caught the eye of several Premier League clubs.
According to The Mirror, Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle are all keeping tabs on Mudryk, who has provided eight goals and eight assists in 16 games this season.
French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested, but probably only if Shakhtar are prepared to budge on their huge asking price.
Mudryk, who is under contract at Shakhtar until 2026, told Sport Arena: "When I found out about my price, I wasn't just surprised, I was shocked.
"I have a long-term contract with Shakhtar. I give all my strength and energy so that Shakhtar achieves maximum results... but every football player has a dream to play in a top club and in a top championship - I am no exception.
"But I am 100 per cent sure that they are unlikely to buy a player from the championship of Ukraine for 100 million.
"I will not hide that I was very upset. The amount of 100 million puts a barrier for my transition to the top championship, which I so dreamed of.
"I can't say that my dream was killed, but wounded - that's for sure."
No Ukrainian player has ever commanded a transfer fee close to €100m.
Meanwhile, the highest fee ever received by a Ukrainian club when selling a player is €58.9m for Fred, as reported by GOAL, when he moved from Shakhtar to Manchester United in 2018.
