Former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has admitted that he would like to manage a team featuring striker Kylian Mbappe.

Zidane has been out of work since May 2021 when his second spell as Real manager ended.

The 51-year-old - who led Real to three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles in 2016, 2017 and 2018 - is seen as a contender to return to the Bernabeu when Carlo Ancelotti leaves his role.

Zidane has also been mooted as a future France manager.

Ancelotti has 12 months remaining on his deal with Real, while France boss Didier Deschamps is under contract until after the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Mbappe, who is the captain of the France national team, is currently tied to Paris Saint-Germain until June 2024.

But he could leave the Ligue 1 champions this summer, with PSG reportedly keen to sell him now to avoid losing him on a free transfer next year.

Real and Liverpool are both said to be interested in signing Mbappe.

Discussing Mbappe, Zidane told L'Equipe this week: "When you're a manager and there is a player like him, of course, you'd want to manage him.

"Lots of things can happen. It could happen one day. He is a player that wears the France shirt well. In any case, I admire what he does. He's beautiful, strong."
