Manchester City climbed to the top of the Premier League table for the first time since November by winning 3-1 at title rivals Arsenal on Wednesday.

Arsenal had been eight points clear of City one month ago but the reigning champions now lead the table on goal difference.

City, who have played one game more than Arsenal, went 1-0 up at the Emirates Stadium when Kevin De Bruyne punished an error from Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Tomiyasu's short back-pass to Aaron Ramsdale was intercepted by De Bruyne, who lobbed the keeper with a superb first-time finish.

Arsenal drew level just before half-time when Bukayo Saka scored from the penalty spot after Ederson was adjudged to have fouled Eddie Nketiah.

The first half had been fairly even but City went up a gear after the interval.

Jack Grealish beat Ramsdale with a deflected low strike in the 78th minute to give City a deserved 2-1 lead.

De Bruyne then teed up Erling Haaland to put the game beyond Arsenal four minutes later.

City have now won each of their last seven matches against Arsenal in all competitions.
