Axel Disasi Own Goal From 35 Yards Sparks Chelsea Collapse vs. Leicester City Before Super Subs Save the Day for Premier League Side
Chelsea scored two goals in added time to beat 10-man Leicester City 4-2 in Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final at Stamford Bridge.
Substitutes Carney Chukwuemeka and Noni Madueke eventually got the Premier League side over the line against their Championship opponents.
Mauricio Pochettino's men had earlier appeared to be cruising into the semi-finals when they led 2-0 at half-time thanks to goals from Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer.
It could have been 3-0 but a poor penalty kick from Raheem Sterling was saved by Jakub Stolarczyk.
But it was 2-2 by the 62nd minute following a worrying Chelsea collapse that was started by a bizarre own goal scored by defender Axel Disasi.
Disasi attempted to play a pass back to goalkeeper Robert Sanchez but, under pressure from Patson Daka, he mishit the ball and sent it flying into the net from 35 yards.
Leicester's equalizer arrived 11 minutes later when Stephy Mavididi scored his 11th goal of the season with a fine solo strike.
Chelsea fans were getting nervous but the home side were given a boost in the 73rd minute when Callum Doyle was sent off for a professional foul on Nicolas Jackson.
Leicester's 10 men held on until the second minute of added time when Chukwuemeka slotted home from five yards following a beautiful assist by Palmer.
Madueke then had the last word with a stunning long-range solo strike.
