Chelsea completed the signing of France defender Axel Disasi from Monaco on Friday.

The 25-year-old has signed a contract with Chelsea until the summer of 2029.

According to BBC Sport, Chelsea paid a transfer fee of €45 million to sign Disasi, who featured in all 38 of Monaco's Ligue 1 matches last season.

Disasi also made 14 appearances in the UEFA Europa League over the past two campaigns.

Earlier this year, the Europa League's official Twitter account posted a two-and-a-half-minute compilation video of Disasi in action.

The video was captioned: "Axel Disasi. Complete defender."

Disasi was primarily used as a central defender by Monaco but he also played at right-back on multiple occasions.

The footage shared by the Europa League showed Disasi dribbling past opposition players, as well as making some excellent tackles and interceptions.

Disasi is expected to play as a center-back for Chelsea.

He will compete with the likes of Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah and Levi Colwill for a starting spot in Mauricio Pochettino's back four.

Chelsea co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said of Disasi in a joint-statement on Friday: "Axel has showcased his quality over several seasons in France and that has deservedly led to recognition on the international stage.

"He is ready to take the next step in his career and we are delighted that will be with Chelsea. We welcome him to the club and look forward to him joining up with Mauricio Pochettino and his new teammates in the days ahead."

Disasi later said in his first interview with ChelseaFC.com: "I am really proud to be able to be a part of this great family.

"I hope to achieve very big things here. To win titles. I will do everything I can to achieve those objectives. I am very ambitious."
