Casemiro scored an 89th-minute winner as Manchester United beat Nottingham Forest 1-0 on Wednesday night to progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The Red Devils will now host rivals Liverpool in the last eight on either March 16 or 17.

Antony rattled the crossbar just four minutes into Wednesday's game at the City Ground.

Scott McTominay then twice had headed efforts blocked by Forest keeper Matt Turner.

At the other end, Taiwo Awoniyi forced two good saves out of Andre Onana, who also kept out a shot from Divock Origi.

But the breakthrough eventually arrived in the penultimate minute of the 90 when Casemiro headed home from a wicked Bruno Fernandes free-kick.

The goal was the subject of a VAR review because Raphael Varane had been stood in an offside position when Fernandes delivered his cross.

However, it was eventually concluded that Varane had not been interfering with play.

Another VAR review was called moments later after Forest defender Felipe had grabbed Fernandes by the neck, but no card was issued.
