Casemiro received the first red card of his Manchester United career when he was dismissed from Saturday's game with Crystal Palace for violent conduct.

The former Real Madrid midfielder was sent off midway through the second half at Old Trafford after putting both of his hands around the neck of Palace player Will Hughes.

United were 2-0 up at the time of Casemiro's dismissal thanks to a first-half Bruno Fernandes penalty and Marcus Rashford's 19th club goal of the season.

But the Brazilian's exit from the game put United under pressure and Jeffrey Schlupp pulled a goal back for Palace to make it 2-1 with 14 minutes remaining.

United managed to hold on for victory without Casemiro.

They must now cope without him in their next three domestic games as the 30-year-old will be suspended.
