Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has laughed off suggestions that he could be a contender for the Chelsea job this summer.

Ancelotti took charge of 109 Chelsea games between 2009 and 2011, leading the London club to a Premier League and FA Cup double in 2010.

He is currently under contract with Real until June 2024 but his name has been loosely linked with a return to Chelsea, who recently appointed Frank Lampard as interim manager until the end of the season.

Lampard was brought in after Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter had both been fired as a result of Chelsea's poor form this season.

The Blues currently sit 11th in the Premier League table and are closer to the relegation zone than the top four.

Despite their awful domestic campaign, Chelsea have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League where they will face Ancelotti's Real.

Ancelotti spoke to the media ahead of Wednesday's first leg in Madrid.

He was asked by Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill if he was sad to see Chelsea in their current state and also if he would ever considerer going back to Stamford Bridge to help.

The Italian's first reaction was to laugh before he said with a smile: "Again?

"I am sad, yes. I have a fantastic memory of this club, of the people that are still working there.

"I am a supporter of Chelsea, of course, because I spent two really nice years there.

"Be back? No. I hope that Lampard is able to do a fantastic job with them."
