Ousmane Dembele And Fermin Lopez Score Superb Goals As Barcelona Beat Real Madrid In Clasico 'Friendly' Featuring Seven Yellow Cards
Barcelona claimed pre-season bragging rights by thrashing Real Madrid 3-0 in Texas on Saturday night.
Ousmane Dembele, Fermin Lopez and Ferran Torres were all on target for the Spanish champions at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Vinicius Junior missed a penalty kick during the first half when the score was 1-0.
Madrid dominated the first half in terms of possession and chances - registering 16 shots to Barca's five.
But Barca reached the interval 1-0 in front thanks to a fine angled strike from Dembele following a clever free-kick routine in the 15th minute.
Madrid should have leveled the game moments later after a Ronald Araujo handball resulted in a penalty kick.
But Vinicius failed to convert from 12 yards as he smashed his shot against the crossbar.
Barca had earlier struck the crossbar at the other end when Oriol Romeu went close to scoring his first goal for the club.
This was officially a friendly match but it was still played with plenty of aggression between two fierce rivals.
Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga, Frenkie de Jong and Dani Carvajal all received yellow cards during a hostile first half that featured a mass confrontation in the center of the field.
Jules Kounde, Romeu and David Alaba were then also booked by the referee in the second half.
But this game will not be remembered for its poor tackles and lack of discipline.
This Clasico belonged to 20-year-old Lopez, who produced a stunning 25-minute cameo off the bench.
Lopez provided the moment of the match in the 85th minute when he hammered a powerful swerving shot into the top corner of the net from 22 yards.
Lopez then brilliantly set up Torres for Barca's third goal in added time.
This was only Barcelona's second pre-season game of 2023, while it was Madrid's third.
Barca had been beaten 5-3 by Arsenal in Los Angeles three days earlier, while Madrid recently recorded wins over AC Milan and Manchester United in Pasadena and Houston.
