Colombia will face England in the quarter-finals of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup.

The South American side beat Jamaica 1-0 in the round of 16 on Tuesday.

Jamaica had kept three clean sheets - against France, Panama and Brazil - during the group stage.

But goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer's impressive run of shutouts ended 51 minutes into Tuesday's game when Catalina Usme scored her second goal of the tournament.

Usme produced an excellent two-touch finish inside the Jamaica penalty area after being set up by a fine deep cross from Ana Guzman.

This is now officially Colombia's best ever Women's World Cup campaign. They were eliminated in the group stage in 2011, went out in the last 16 four years later and did not qualify for the 2019 tournament.

Tuesday's win over Jamaica came after Colombia had topped Group H following victories against South Korea and two-time world champions Germany.

Colombia's meeting with England in Sydney in the quarter-finals on Saturday will be the second time the two nations have played each other in the history of the Women's World Cup.

England beat Colombia 2-1 in a group game back in 2015.
