Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to apologize to Al Nassr supporters after scoring from a 118th-minute penalty kick against Al Ain in Monday's AFC Champions League quarter-final.

The goal - which put Al Nassr 4-3 up on the night and level at 4-4 on aggregate - came from Ronaldo's 13th shot of the game.

He had earlier missed a catalog of chances - including a sitter from three yards.

Ronaldo initially celebrated his goal - which was the 750th of his club career - by performing his trademark 'SIU' routine, albeit in a rather subdued manner.

However, as he was walking back towards the halfway line, he then held his hands together, seemingly to gesture that he was sorry for his earlier misses.

Ronaldo converted another spot-kick moments later in a penalty shootout.

However, it was ultimately in a losing cause as Al Ain prevailed 3-1 on penalties following misses by Alex Telles and Otavio.

Marcelo Brozovic also failed to score in the shootout. He was denied by Al Ain keeper Khalid Eisa.

Al Ain will now face either Al-Hilal or Al-Ittihad in the semi-finals.
