Cristiano Ronaldo made more headlines on Monday by scoring his 50th goal of 2023 to help Al Nassr beat Al-Shabab 5-2 in Saudi Arabia's King Cup.

But it was not only the 38-year-old's well-taken goal in the 74th minute that had spectators off their seats in Riyadh.

Ronaldo dazzled fans earlier in the game when he dribbled past three Al-Shabab defenders in one powerful sprint down the left wing.

The former Manchester United star sped past those three opponents in just three seconds in a run that evoked memories of when he burst onto the Premier League scene as a young winger in 2003.

His subsequent cross ultimately did not lead to a goal but footage of his excellent run was still shared multiple times on social media.

Monday's game was the 1,201st of Ronaldo's record-breaking career.

He has now scored 869 goals and been on the winning side in 792 matches.

Of Ronaldo's 50 goals in 2023, 40 have come while playing for Al Nassr. He has scored the other 10 in nine appearances for Portugal.

By beating Al-Shabab, Al Nassr progressed to the semi-finals of the King Cup.

Al-Khaleej and Al-Hilal also reached the final four with wins on Monday.

The last remaining quarter-final, between Al-Faisaly and Al-Ittihad, will take place next week.

That is due to Al-Ittihad's involvement in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup.
