Al Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo exploded with fury during Friday's Saudi Pro League game against Al Raed after the referee refused to award him a penalty kick.

After dribbling with the ball for 25 yards, Ronaldo went down under a sliding challenge from Al Raed defender Mubarak Abdulrahman Al Rajeh in the 57th minute.

Ronaldo was adamant that he had been fouled but the referee awarded a goal kick, rather than a penalty.

The VAR then reviewed the incident and sided with the on-field official but Ronaldo was still fuming.

Play resumed but Ronaldo remained in the Al Raed penalty area for over a minute to continue his protest.

After he eventually got up and rejoined the action, Ronaldo almost immediately conceded a free-kick, which did not improve his mood.

Ronaldo was demanding a penalty again moments later, this time for a possible handball offense, but again the referee again said no.

Although he did appear to have a case with the first penalty shout, Ronaldo was very lucky not to receive a yellow card for his persistent complaints to the referee.

Despite his frustrated outburst, Friday's game was a successful one for Ronaldo.

The 38-year-old had earlier ended Al Nassr's three-match goal drought by heading home a fourth-minute opener.

Abdulrahman Ghareeb, Mohammed Maran and Abdulmajeed Al-Sulaiheem later joined Ronaldo on the scoresheet as Al Nassr won 4-0 to move to within three points of Saudi Pro League leaders Al-Ittihad, who had beaten Al-Shabab 24 hours earlier courtesy of a 106th-minute penalty winner.
