Cristiano Ronaldo Scores Two Goals With Weaker Foot As Portugal Hit Luxembourg For Six
Luxembourg 0-6 Portugal
Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as Portugal thrashed Luxembourg to continue their dominant start in Euro 2024 qualifying.
Joao Felix, Bernardo Silva, Otavio and Rafael Leao were also on target for Portugal on Sunday.
Both of Ronaldo's goals were scored using his weaker foot - his left.
The 38-year-old heeled Portugal in front nine minutes into the game after Nuno Mendes had headed a Bruno Fernandes cross into his path.
Silva set up Felix for Portugal's second goal before the Manchester City playmaker scored the third himself.
Portugal went 4-0 up in the 31st minute after Fernandes played a through pass into the path of Ronaldo, who coolly slotted past keeper Anthony Moris to score his fourth international goal in four days.
Ronaldo picked up a yellow card for simulation in the second half before being substituted off on 64 minutes.
But the Al Nassr forward looked pleased with his night's work.
Substitute Otavio made it 5-0 following an assist from Rafael Leao, who later saw a penalty kick saved by Moris.
Leao did not dwell on his failed spot-kick though. The AC Milan forward completed the scoring in the 89th minute with a slick solo goal.
Portugal, who beat Liechtenstein 4-0 on Thursday, will now continue their qualification bid in June.
Slovakia, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Iceland are also in Group J
