Curtis Jones Scores Twice Against Leicester After Two VAR Reviews Go In Liverpool's Favor
Curtis Jones scored two goals in a Premier League game for the first time in his career as Liverpool won 3-0 at Leicester City on Monday.
Jones found the net in the 33rd minute and then again 180 seconds later as the Reds went 2-0 up before half-time at the King Power Stadium.
Both goals were assisted by Mo Salah and both were scrutinized by VAR before being awarded.
The first goal, which Jones finished with a calm left-footed half-volley, was given after replays showed that Luis Diaz had been just onside in the build-up.
Jones initially looked as though he may have been marginally offside before scoring his second goal, but when the VAR's lines were drawn it was found that the heel of Jonny Evans had been playing him on.
It would have been a shame had the midfielder's second goal been disallowed as it was such a sweet strike.
Cody Gakpo played the ball to Salah, who flicked a first-time pass to Jones. The 22-year-old controlled the ball with his back to goal before spinning and nailing a shot into the top corner from 16 yards.
Jones has now scored 11 senior goals for the Reds.
Trent Alexander-Arnold scored Liverpool's third goal on Monday when he found the net from 25 yards after another Salah assist in the 71st minute.
Liverpool have now won seven games in a row in the Premier League and could still finish in the top four if Newcastle or Manchester United slip up in their remaining fixtures.
Conversely, Leicester have won just one of their last 15 matches in all competitions.
The Foxes sit 19th in the EPL table, two points from safety, with two rounds of games left to play.
