Declan Rice Scores Late Winner As Arsenal Edge Seven-Goal Thriller At Luton Despite Two Errors By David Raya
Declan Rice scored a 97th-minute winner as Arsenal beat Luton Town 4-3 on Tuesday night to go five points clear at the top of the Premier League.
Gabriel Martinelli netted the opener at Kenilworth Road before Gabriel Osho hit back for Luton.
Gabriel Jesus restored Arsenal's lead but goals from Elijah Adebayo and Ross Barkley - both aided by errors from keeper David Raya - then swung the game in Luton's favor.
However, Kai Havertz scored the fourth goal of his Gunners career to draw the visitors level before Rice sealed all three points with the last action of a pulsating contest.
Arsenal took the lead in the 20th minute from the first shot of the game when Martinelli swept home from a Bukayo Saka cutback following a quick throw-in by Jesus.
Moments earlier, Luton keeper Thomas Kaminski had raced out of his 18-yard box to prevent the ball going out for an Arsenal corner.
Kaminski kicked the ball out for a throw-in instead but he and his defenders were then caught out of position after some quick-thinking by Jesus.
Luton equalized five minutes later when Osho headed in from an Alfie Doughty corner.
But the Gunners restored their advantage just before half-time courtesy of a fine Jesus header following a whipped cross by Ben White.
Another Doughty corner saw Luton draw level again four minutes after the interval when Adebayo got to the ball ahead of Gunners keeper Raya.
Raya was at fault again as Luton went 3-2 up on 57 minutes thanks to a low strike from Barkley that sneaked under the Spanish stopper.
Luton's lead lasted less than three minutes as Havertz got on the end of a neat Jesus pass to poke home Arsenal's third goal of the game.
The Hatters almost held on for what would have been only their 10th point of the season.
But a pinpoint cross from Martin Odegaard unlocked a tired defense in added time and the ball was guided brilliantly into the net by the head of Rice inside a packed penalty area.
