Liverpool's Dominik Szoboszlai Likened To Cristiano Ronaldo After Stunning Goal Against West Ham
Dominik Szoboszlai scored the fourth goal of his Liverpool career by firing a rocket into West Ham's net 28 minutes into Wednesday's EFL Cup quarter-final clash at Anfield.
The Hungary international collected the ball 30 yards from goal before setting himself and unleashing a stunning low strike that swerved in the air on its way past Hammers keeper Alphonse Areola.
Szoboszlai had scored a similar goal from long range during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Leicester City in round three.
Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher was commentating on Wednesday's game for Sky Sports and he suggested that Szoboszlai's technique was like Cristiano Ronaldo's.
"We've seen it once before in this competition at the Kop end against Leicester," Carragher said. "We've seen it again now against West Ham.
After watching a replay, Carragher added: "Ben Johnson on that far side, he just seems to stand off. Maybe he's not aware of Szoboszlai and the strengths that he's got.
"He just finds that far corner. Just look at that. It just evades the goalie. We see that movement, almost Cristiano Ronaldo-esque, the way he hits the ball."
Liverpool went on to thrash West Ham 5-1.
Curtis Jones scored twice at Anfield. Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah also found the net. Jarrod Bowen got a consolation goal for the Hammers.
Liverpool will now face Fulham in the semi-finals. The winner of that two-legged clash will then take on Chelsea or Middlesbrough in the final on February 25.
