Enzo Fernandez executed a perfect free-kick to score a stunning goal for Chelsea in Wednesday night's 3-1 win at Aston Villa in an FA Cup fourth round replay.

Fernandez beat Argentina teammate Emiliano Martinez from 30 yards in the 54th minute to add to earlier strikes by Conor Gallagher and Nicolas Jackson.

Martinez was at full stretch after diving to his right but he was unable to keep out Fernandez's shot as it curled wickedly into the top corner.

Former Villa forward Dion Dublin was reporting on Wednesday's game for BBC Sport and he said: "Just top class. That is world-class. What a free-kick. Martinez gets half a hand on it but no keeper is stopping that."

After delivering a free-kick that Lionel Messi would have been proud of, Fernandez decided to celebrate like the man himself.

Fernandez recreated the famous celebration that Messi had performed in 2017 after scoring the 500th goal of his Barcelona career in a 3-2 win at Real Madrid.

He removed his jersey before holding it up to the crowd to show off his name and number.

Fernandez has now scored six goals in 51 appearances for Chelsea since signing from Benfica in January 2023 for a transfer fee in excess of £100 million.

Moussa Diaby scored a late consolation goal for Villa on Wednesday but Chelsea still cruised through to the round of 16.

Chelsea's next opponents in this season's FA Cup will be Leeds United.

That game will take place at Stamford Bridge on February 28.
