Erling Haaland Smashes Another Premier League Record By Reaching 50 Goals In Just 48 Games
Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland scored the 50th goal of his Premier League career on Saturday.
It arrived 27 minutes into his 48th EPL appearance to put City 1-0 up against title rivals Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland controlled a pass from Nathan Ake with his right boot before turning sharply and drilling a low left-footed effort under Reds keeper Alisson Becker from 15 yards.
Haaland's strike was not enough to earn City all three points as Liverpool left Manchester with a 1-1 draw after Trent Alexander-Arnold netted an 80th-minute equalizer.
But Haaland now holds the record for being the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals.
Until Saturday, that record had been held by Andy Cole, who took 65Â matches to get to a half-century of goals in the 1990s.
Fastest Players To 50 Premier League Goals
- Erling Haaland - 48 games
- Andy Cole - 65 games
- Alan Shearer - 66 games
- Ruud van Nistelrooy - 68 games
- Mo Salah and Fernando Torres - 72 games each
Haaland broke another of Cole's long-held records last season when he scored 36 goals in 35 games.
The record for most goals in a single Premier League season had previously been shared by Cole and Alan Shearer since 1995.
Cole netted 34 times in 40 EPL games in the 1993/94 campaign, before Shearer bagged 34 in 42 matches during the following season.
Shearer currently holds the Premier League's overall goals record, having scored 260 in 441 appearances between 1992 and 2006.
