Erling Haaland scored his first goals since November as Manchester City beat Everton 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.

City did not record a shot on target until the 71st minute but a late brace by Haaland eventually saw Pep Guardiola's men register a 10th straight win in all competitions.

Haaland's double salvo moved him onto 16 Premier League goals for the season - taking him two clear of Mo Salah in the race for the Golden Boot.

Haaland - who was making only his third appearance of 2024, after recently recovering from a foot injury he had suffered in early December - fired City ahead with his right boot after Everton failed to clear a Julian Alvarez corner.

He then raced onto a Kevin De Bruyne through pass before finishing clinically with his left foot in the 85th minute.

Everton had earlier done an excellent job of suppressing City's dangerous attack.

However, the Toffees provided very little goal threat of their own at the other end.

City's victory took Pep Guardiola's men top of the EPL table for around three hours before Liverpool reclaimed first place by beating Burnley 3-1 at Anfield later on Saturday.
