Barcelona players were chased off the field by angry Espanyol fans after celebrating their title victory at the RCDE Stadium.

A 4-2 win at Espanyol saw Barcelona seal their 27th La Liga title on Sunday evening.

No Barcelona fans had been permitted into the stadium but players and staff from the away side still decided to celebrate publicly by holding hands and dancing around the center circle.

This party lasted little more than a minute before hundreds of home fans stormed the field, resulting in Barca's players running back to the locker rooms.

More home fans then entered the field of play and clashed with riot police.

Chairs and bottles were thrown at the police and members of local security staff, who were guarding the tunnel that links the pitch to the locker rooms.

Sunday's defeat increased the chances of Espanyol suffering relegation from La Liga this season.

With four rounds of fixtures remaining, Espanyol are now four points from safety.
