England's Under-21 side took a confident stride towards Euro 2025 by thrashing Serbia 9-1 in a qualifier on Thursday night.

The Young Lions had kicked off their Group F campaign with a 3-0 away win over Luxembourg in September.

Thursday's game at the City Ground in Nottingham got off to a sluggish start for England as winger Vladimir Lucic fired Serbia ahead in the 27th minute.

But the home team stormed back as Hull's Jaden Philogene, Chelsea's Noni Madueke and Liverpool's Harvey Elliott all bagged braces.

Manchester City forward Liam Delap and Norwich wide-man Jonathan Rowe also found the net, with Luka Subotic scoring an own goal.

The two best goals of the night came courtesy of Elliott and Madueke.

Elliott made it 3-1 to England just before half-time with a powerful strike from the edge of the penalty area.

Madueke then got England's fourth of the night with a superb solo effort that saw him dribble past three players before nailing a low shot from 17 yards.
