Inter Milan took a huge step towards the Champions League semi-finals by winning away at Benfica.

Nicolo Barella headed Inter in front 51 minutes into Tuesday's quarter-final first leg before Romelu Lukaku converted a late penalty kick to wrap up a 2-0 victory in Lisbon.

The Italian side have only reached the semis twice previously since the European Cup was rebranded in 1992 - first in 2003 and then again in 2010, when they went on to win the tournament under Jose Mourinho.

But Inter will now start next Wednesday's second leg against Benfica as overwhelming favorites to move into the last four, where they would meet either AC Milan or Napoli.
