Phil Foden and Bernardo Silva were on target as Manchester City beat Newcastle 2-0 to put pressure on Arsenal at the top of the Premier League.

Foden scored his fourth goal in three matches to give City the lead 15 minutes into Saturday's early game.

The in-form midfielder collected a pass from Rodri outside of the penalty area before dribbling directly at the Newcastle defense.

Foden held off challenges from three Newcastle players before beating Nick Pope with a powerful right-footed shot via a slight deflection off Sven Botman.

Substitute Silva doubled City's lead midway through the second half.

Jack Grealish started the attack by cutting inside from the left and charging forward.

Grealish was tackled by Kieran Trippier but the ball then ran to Erling Haaland, who flicked it into the path of Silva.

After controlling the ball with his first touch, Silva lashed a shot into the top corner with his second.

City are now unbeaten in their last nine games against Newcastle.
