Scotland 2-0 Spain

Scott McTominay scored a brace for the second game in a row as Scotland beat Spain at Hampden Park on Tuesday.

The Manchester United midfielder had netted two late goals three days earlier when Scotland began their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign with a 3-0 win over Cyprus.

Spain had also started their Euro 2024 bid with a 3-0 win, after beating Norway on Saturday.

But Luis de la Fuente's side fell behind seven minutes into their game in Glasgow when Andy Robertson got the better of Pedro Porro before pulling the ball back for McTominay to fire home.

McTominay scored again early in the second half after Spain had failed to clear a cross from Kieran Tierney, following a 60-yard dribble by the Arsenal defender down Scotland's left flank.

McTominay has now scored four goals in his last two Scotland games after netting just once in his first 37 international appearances.

Spain dominated Tuesday's game in terms of possession but they almost fell 3-0 down when John McGinn struck the crossbar.

This was Scotland's first win over Spain since 1984.

Scotland will resume their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign in June when they visit Norway before hosting Georgia.
