Jordan Pickford's Double Error Helps Spurs Beat Everton To Record Best Start To An EPL Season
Tottenham beat Everton 2-0 in London on Saturday thanks to a Harry Kane penalty and a late Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg strike.
The win saw Spurs move onto 23 points - their best return after the first 10 games of a season in Premier League history.
Spurs dominated possession in the first half but the best two chances fell to Everton's Demarai Gray and Amadou Onana.
Everton failed to register a single shot in the second half, though.
Tottenham had started the match in a 3-4-3 formation but an injury to Richarlison on 52 minutes prompted a change to a 3-5-2 following the introduction of Yves Bissouma.
This tactical switch saw Spurs take control in midfield. The game was now being played exclusively in Everton's half and the pressure told on the hour-mark.
Jordan Pickford spilled a hopeful shot from Matt Doherty into the path of Kane. In attempting to atone for his error, the Everton keeper made another by fouling Kane.
Kane converted the penalty to score for the fifth Premier League game in a row.
It took Spurs until the 86th minute to score their second.
It arrived when Rodrigo Bentancur's low cross found Hojbjerg on the edge of the box and he beat Pickford via a slight deflection off Alex Iwobi.
