Ivan Toney marked his return from an eight-month ban by scoring a superb free-kick goal for Brentford in a 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday.

Toney had not played in a competitive game since May when he was suspended for breaching the Football Association's rules on betting 232 times between February 2017 and January 2021.

But it took him just 19 minutes to get back on the scoresheet on Saturday.

Toney's 19-yard free-kick was excellent. However, Forest's defensive organization certainly was not.

Forest built a five-man wall but it left Toney with a big target on one side.

Toney was able to curl a low shot around the wall, leaving Forest keeper Matt Turner with no chance.

Toney's goal came after Danilo had stylishly volleyed Forest into an early lead.

Ben Mee then headed Brentford back ahead before Chris Wood made it 2-2 by scoring his sixth goal in as many matches.

Brentford's winner was scored in the 68th minute by Toney's strike partner Neal Maupay, who produced a stunning two-touch finish following a cross from Mads Roerslev.
